Restoration of watercourses

140 kilometers of waterways and at least 470 spawning grounds for fish will be restored in the project. With the help of excavators and hand tools, boulders and trees are moved back to the waterways.

Better status of wetlands

Four wetlands adjacent to the project's watercourse must be annualized. A total of 18 kilometers of ditches will be plugged again and the wetlands can regain their potential.

Pre cut of trees are done and machine routes are planned in the Stenmyran nature reserve
in Västerbotten. Restoration will take place in autumn 2024

Watercourses without obstacles

In this project, 199 obstructing road culverts and 22 dams will be repaired, which will open up a whole 845 kilometers of waterways to move freely in.

Big effort for the white pearl mussel

Through eDNA surveys, snorkeling, genetic analysis, cage infection of juveniles on host fishes we learn more about the freshwater pearl mussel's distribution and genetics. We also breed mussel babies in a rearing laboratory - to be released in their home rivers again.

Arrange several meetings

We will organize meetings for school classes, new arrivals, landowners, forestry companies and experts in water conservation for at least 120 meetings.
